TEXTILES! It truly THRILLS me to be able to incorporate them into my paper
crafting!
Here is a card like I've never made before...it's super frilly
and not my style at all. However I created it for a specific person in
mind who is struggling right now and I GUARANTEE that this card will be
display right in her living room (as all of the others I've ever sent
to her) for years to come!
I used one of the sentiments from this Month's Stamp of the Month, Cross Stitch Wishes! Remember - you can get your hands on this stamp set for only $5 THIS MONTH ONLY!
I used one of our 5 X 7 Circle Spin Cards (I stinkin' love these!) and
decorated the spinner with a scalloped circle from our Cricut Art
Philosophy Collection then topped it with a textile rosette and a few
pieces of scrap fabric, then adhered a couple items from our 'Base &
Bling' Collections onto the top! Yes, it actually spins when it's
opened - So Cool!
I added several Textile Ruffles onto the
front (super frilly)....Remember - I have a tutorial to show you how to
create the ruffles here on my blog ---> http://justcrazyblessed.blogspot.com/2013/05/ruffled-textiles-tutorial.html
I adhered the ruffles to my card with simple standard adhesive
(nothing fancy at all) and topped the edge with a small left over piece
of our Hollyhock zipper lace..again, just standard adhesive held it in
place!
Be careful not to 'over think' this stuff....just
because it's something we aren't' familiar with or understand quite how
it works doesn't mean it has to be complicated! Who would have thought
the same simple adhesive you use for your paper crafting would adhere
fabric as well?! No worries...it's ALL GOOD!
The inside needed something to make it POP since you could see if
through the window of the spin card! I cut a 4.75" X 6.75" piece of
scrap cardstock and I covered with with my adhesive - I laid my fabric
on top of it, smoothed out the wrinkles and adhered the edges down on
the backside then attached it right to my card base! Easy as Pie!
Under my sentiment you will see a few additional pieces from our 'Base
& Bling' line along with another scrap of fabric...Can you tell I
don't have many 'scraps' of things left? I just think it uses good
wisdom to make my purchases stretch as far as they can go so I rarely
toss out 'bits and pieces' because chances are I'll be able to use them
in the future!
As I mentioned before, this card is very different from what I usually
create but I know the recipient will adore it knowing I made it
especially for her!
